I was gunnin’ for a basement office with no heat or windows

I have finally outsmarted the antiquity of the tv in my room and made the dvd player work with it. Mostly this involves plugging in the scart cable into the lone aerial socket on the tv through advance technological means. No more shall I remain stuck with my crappy 4 channels of rubbish (I don’t even get the fifth marvellous channel of terrestrial crapness on this tv, even with the new aerial), I can now watch the rest of my x-files box set from the comfort of… a metal chair in front of my desk. Or even my bed. Or the floor with it’s lovely carpet of blueness. Woog.

Aw. First season Scully. So young, so sceptical! First season Mulder! So young, so not sceptical!

And the dvd player has a remote! I don’t even have to get up and go press the buttons on the tv to make things happen. Well. So long as it doesn’t involve turning the sound up or changing the channel or anything aside from controlling the dvd player. 😀

Fr Cormac Rigby RIP

Obituary

I last saw Fr Cormac when I was in still in Birmingham – we went to see Carmina Burana and the Four Seasons at the Birmingham Royal Ballet. He used to be the parish priest of my mum’s nursing home and my mum and dad were due to go visit him in Oxford on Friday. It’s kinda sad that he’s gone, but he’d been ill for quite a long time and lived a lot longer than his doctors were expecting.

You think you can look into the face of pure evil, and then you find yourself paralysed by it.

Today is my Dad’s birthday so we went to check out the RAF museum in Hendon and then went for lunch and had mostly food that he likes. There are a heck of a lot of planes in the museum and some bombs and stuff. It was cool. I got my dad a die-cast Mosquito and a cd of war movie music while we were there, which he’s seems pretty happy with. I guess it’s because he can play the music and fly the plane about in tune. Heh. We also surprised him with a Fifi and the Flowertots cake for breakfast, though it seems that Fifi and the Flowertots isn’t one of the programmes he watches often.

As expected… the delivery people attempted to deliver my dvd player while we were out. They’ll apparently be trying again tomorrow though I have a suspicion that no one will be in again when they do., as dictated by Murphy’s Law.

In other news, I am now a student again! Woo. Well. I’m just doing one module with the OU, but I have a student number and everything once more. And I’ll get to do essays! And READING and stuff. 😀 I didn’t really get much of a chance to do any essays while at university. 🙁 Or much reading for that matter. Heh.
