there’s no connection to myself

Tomorrow LJ goes down for a bit for the big server move or something. I wasn’t entirely paying attention to whatever it was that I read about it. Either way, it doesn’t matter as I’m hopping on a train to Scotland.

I <3 time off from work. I can do stuff during the day, while it is still light outside. 😀 Like… shopping. I bought a dress. And some new shoes to replace the cheap slightly too big pair that replaced the ones that exploded. Weeeeee.

I should really pack. Or make a list of things to pack. I have been instructed that I may only bring one book with me. I suspect I will cheat and bring my cybook. And a paperback. Might give North & South another read.

Better re-set my alarm clocks too.

And remember to charge things.

Writer’s Block: Annals of Animal Warfare

Putting the laws of time and plausiblity aside, picture a battle between the megalodon (a prehistoric shark with a six-foot jaw span) and a giant squid (reported to be the size of a school bus). Who would win?

The squid has a beak and tentacles…so I vote for the squid. Though I am unfamiliar with the dimensions of a school bus.

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved, and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

so i’ll head out of this cage, before they shut the gates

I cannot wait until next week. Even though we’ll be doing stuff, most probably, I am really looking forward to some days of doing things during the day when it is still light rather coming home from work in the dark.

Well, apart from the fireworks that my dad got on Friday. Those are good darktime activities. 😀 I suspect we’ll be using our explosives on Monday, like… a week after Guy Fawkes. ::shrug::

I’m thinking I should do something with the stacks of CDs I’ve got around my room and hidden in cupboards. Or at least, get rid of all the random compilations I picked up. I’ve had a vague sort of idea with dealing with them.

I’m sure I’ve probably got CDs hidden that I want to listen to regularly again and just can’t remember where I left them. Or they’re in the shed in the garden. No idea.

I do know that my copy of Interpol’s “Turn on the Bright Lights” has a scratch on it that makes it skip, so I should do something about replacing that. It’s what I listen to when my ears are ringing so I can get to sleep, so I should do that before I go and see Supergrass.

Going out tonight, but I want to stay in and do nothing. Baah.
